So I'm reading my copy of 'Firefly: A Celebration', and at the back in the acknowledgements section, a certain James Riley of the California Browncoats is credited for providing some rather lovely photographs... Judging by your Blue Sun shirt in a few of the SPG vids, it wouldn't be yourself, would it? =D
You caught me! I think I have 6 or 7 photos in that book. Including one of my absolute best “gets” ever, Nathan Kisses Serenity.

I was heavily involved in the Browncoat fandom for years, helping to run the California Browncoats non-profit and its fan tables at Comic-Con and other places. That was a ton of fun and I’ll always be a Browncoat. Our local fan group, the SoCal Browncoats, still does some events, including our 8th annual Disneyland Browncoat Day this October!
600!
I just hit 600 followers! To celebrate I’ll be posting a bunch of photos all day tomorrow. Doctor Who, Firefly, Disneyland, Steam Powered Giraffe, Comic-Con, and anything else I can dig up. If I find enough I’ll post a new photo every half hour. Otherwise it’ll be once an hour from midnight tonight until midnight tomorrow.
If you have a request for something you haven’t seen here, but think I might have, just reply or send me an ask.
Thanks everyone for following! I hope you enjoy the picspam. :)
That Serenity poster
Someone asked Beth about the Serenity poster in the background of this post. There’s a story behind it.
In 2005 there was a convention in LA called Flanvention. The entire main cast of Firefly except Gina Torres showed up as well as the Feldman twins, Christina Hendricks and a few Buffy actors. The SoCal Browncoats had a table in the dealer room and were doing a prize drawing to raise money and food donations for the LA Food Bank. I was one of the leaders of the group, but I also had a ticket to the convention. So I mostly attended the convention while others ran the booth. We had a ton of prizes that had been donated, enough to have 15 different prize lots. The grand prize was a UK Serenity poster donated by Universal signed by Joss Whedon and 7 of the cast. During the convention we were able to get the poster signed by not only the 2 remaining cast but “Fanty” and “Mingo” as well. I really wanted that poster and we were giving it away! So I decided to take my chances and donated $100 to the charity and put all my tickets into the drawing for the poster.
Cut to the final day of the convention and the prize drawing. Thanks to donations throughout the weekend, there were about 2000 tickets in the drawing. My co-leader Lynn and I drew for all the prizes except the grand prize. We had a special plan for that one. (Not to mention I had tickets in there so I couldn’t have anything to do with drawing the winner). Luckily the one and only Christina Hendricks (we knew her as Saffron, no Mad Men yet) agreed to draw the grand prize. The photo below is right before she pulled out the winning ticket. Notice I’m on the left there looking all cool (except not). When she finally pulled out the winning ticket, it had my name on it! It took a few seconds before it sunk in that she said my name. :)

Many thanks to Purple_Drazi for not only capturing this moment, but allowing me to share the photo.
